Big Sam's Funky Nation
Big Sam’s Funky Nation has been searing its undeniably funky mark onto the New Orleans music scene since 2001. Recently, BSFN has toured across the country spreading its high energy musical manifesto - and always bringing the Party along the way. From the Big Easy to the Big Apple, from San Francisco to Miami (and many points in between) BSFN has ignited the crowd with music and moves that make it too hot to sit still.
The latest BSFN CD is Peace, Love & Understanding. This is the 3rd CD released by BSFN and showcases the evolution and depth of the band. Peace, Love & Understanding reaches down to dredge up the massive funk grooves that have become the trademark of BSFN – Jambase Online writes “as long as groups like Big Sam’s Funky Nation helm communal happenings like this one, the funky fever is bound to spread…”
BSFN is boldly led by Big Sam Williams and is accompanied by an accomplished group of jazz-trained musicians with the soul & sensibilities of the streets. The musical boundaries are endless for BSFN as they groove through their repertoire of originals spiked with new hits and classic jams. The San Francisco Chronicle describes the BSFN show as “an explosive blend of hard-driving funk and the festive sound of New Orleans street parades.” The live BSFN shows are becoming legendary as you never know exactly where you will go, but it’s always a deep funk journey not to be missed.
